The Montreal Old Port skating rink has been open for just about a month now, and already there have been a host of activities like the Saturday Fire on Ice fireworks shows, or Montreal's biggest New Year's Eve party. And now there is even more going on at everyone's favourite refrigerated rink: a night of karaoke on the ice.
There are still nearly two months to wait but come February 29, you will be able to skate under the stars and if you're so willing, showcase your vocal talents against the gorgeous backdrop of Old Montreal.
If you're a karaoke fan this is the event to mark in your calendar.
The show starts at 9 p.m. and goes until 1 a.m. so you'll have plenty of time to work in your rendition of "Dancing Queen," or whatever else tickles your on-ice karaoke fancy.
The night will be animated by none other than special host Montreal drag queen, Chouchoune — so you can bet this will be a wild and lively night filled with a lot of laughs and fun.
Having the chance to sing your favourite shower songs to a crowd of people all set in one of the most beautiful outdoor spaces in the city is really a once in a lifetime (or once a year) opportunity.
Don't worry, if you're a little unsteady on a pair of ice skates but don't want to miss a chance to belt out some tunes in the Old Port, take advantage of the newly implemented coaching Sundays.
From January 12 to March 1, there will be a guide at the rink giving pointers to novice skaters.
Skating in the Old Port has been a Montréal tradition for more than a century.
And with so many festivities happening in the area in the coming months, this is a great reason to get outdoors.

Everything you could need is on site. Need to rent skates ($10) or a helmet ($5)? Easy. Just head to Patin Patin to get set up.
Are you cold? Warm-up in front of one of the outdoor fireplaces. Hungry or thirsty? Just pop over to Bistro Bonsecours to refuel.
Day passes for adults only cost $9, including the karaoke. And if you're a die-hard skater you can buy season passes for only $29.
Not such a bad way to spend the night outdoors.
