The STM Is Hiring 500+ Bus Drivers With Amazing Benefits & You Don't Need Much Experience
  • The STM is in the process of hiring hundreds of bus drivers to conduct 300 new buses.
  • Candidates need to meet a short list of minimum requirements.
  • The transit company also has an impressive list of employee benefits.

If you're looking for a new career and to contribute to the well-being of the entire city, consider applying to work for the STM, which is currently hiring more than 500 bus drivers as it prepares for the addition of 300 buses to its fleet. The new drivers will get the full range of benefits that come with STM jobs, including free access to regional transit systems, a retirement and health plan, and opportunities for professional development.

Bus drivers also have a starting salary of $25.72/hour.

The new employees will contribute to the mobility of millions of people and work to improve the efficiency of the bus network.

"Whether you are an experienced driver or someone who wants to take a new career turn, the job of bus driver could be for you," the STM states on its website.

Applicants must, however, meet a few minimum requirements, among them:

  • "one year of experience with the public;"

  • a class five driver's license;

  • thirty-six months of driving experience

  • and an "adequate command of the French language."

The job description on the STM website calls for candidates who "enjoy contact with customers and appreciate careful driving."

Bus drivers are further expected to

  • "greet and inform customers, as well as collect from them;"

  • "provide customer service in accordance with STM norms" and "demonstrate good citizenship towards pedestrians and road users;"

  • "provide accurate and relevant information to customers who request it;"

  • and "assist sick or injured persons on the bus and ensure that they are taken care of by the appropriate responders."

If the promotional video posted to the STM website is any indication, the job looks pretty cool and offers an interesting perspective on STM operations.

Prospective applicants must create a profile on the company's jobs portal and submit a cover letter, CV, and copy of their relevant diplomas.

There are dozens of additional job openings across the company in departments as diverse as security, administrative support, and engineering.
