This Is Officially Montreal's Longest Cold Streak In 22 Years

Stay strong, Montreal.
This Is Officially Montreal's Longest Cold Streak In 22 Years

It's been a long, cold winter in Montreal. To be precise, this is the city's 200th consecutive day with temperatures below 20°. So, if you've suspected that this was the longest winter EVER, you're not that far off.

Not to mention that we're not done with bad weather just yet. Montreal is supposed to get more snow this week. I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but at least we can now all commiserate together, right? RIGHT?

Let's hope that the seamless transition into summer happens soon. I am ready for a little warmth.

YUL Weather Records, a Twitter account run by a weather historian, posted this information on Monday morning:

Yesterday, Montreal entered one of the longest extended periods of cold and cool weather in its history, coming just behind a record set in April, 1997.

With the way things are going, we may end up clawing our way to first place. Currently, that record is held by a 239-day streak which lasted between September 16, 1918 and May 12, 1919.

As of right now, we are in 44th place. And gaining every day!

I guess that for now we will have to content ourselves with thinking warm thoughts. Try scrolling through your photos until you reach the ones you took last summer to temporarily bask in the happiness that exudes from them.

We can also be thankful that the cold weather means no bugs and no sweaty dudes on the metro. Not to mention that you probably don't have air conditioning in your apartment.
