This Montreal STM Metro Entrance Will Be Closed All Summer

It seems as though no matter what time of year it is, Montreal's STM is always having some sort of closure or construction work. This inevitably leads to major delays, congestion at the stations or on trains that are running, and can even immobilize parts of the city.

The good news out of all of this is the STM does send out a fair warning to the city, which gives us enough time to schedule a different route for commuting, find a different means of transportation and overall just prepare for the major changes on the horizon.

Well, the STM just released another warning, with a metro entrance about to be closed for almost the rest of 2019.

Beginning on April 1, 2019, the Henri-Bourassa metro station will be making some major changes. In case you used the Berri entrance building to get to the metro, you might want to replan your overall route.

Part of the refurbishment work taking place in several areas of the Henri-Bourassa station, the Berri entrance building will be closing down next week and won't be open and available for entry again until September 23, 2019.

To make matters worse, the traffic lane on Berri Street in front of the entrance will also be reduced by a construction bulkhead.

Not only that, but the regular bus stops serving the Berri entrance will also be cancelled and moved to the east entrance building instead.

Luckily, the rest of the station will remain open during the construction that will be taking place, but for commuters that specifically planned out their trip to line up with the Berri entrance building, some alterations are going to have to be made until fall 2019.

The construction is expected to take nearly two years to complete, meaning we might be dealing with shutdowns and delays for longer than anticipated.

Stay tuned for more information on STM closures and breaking news.
