UPDATE 18:55: The power outage in the Plateau has ended. All Hydro customers in the area now have electricity.

There's an ongoing power outage in the Plateau-Mont-Royal borough that's affecting over 2,000 Hydro-Quebec customers between blvd. René-Levesque E. and rue Rachel E.

The epicentre of the outage seems to be at the intersection of Berri and Ontario, near Metro Sherbrooke.

Hydro-Québec says the outage was caused by an "accident or incident" and that crews are on their way to try to bring back service to the affected area.

Power outages in the Plateau-Mont-Royal were first reported at around 4 PM today. Crews are most likely on the scene. Service is expected to resume at around 6:45 PM

The outage does not seem to be a major one as Hydro-Québec has not reported anything on their social media channels. Still, should the outage continue into the night, stay on alert for updates.

The affected neighbourhood is a busy section of the Plateau-Mont-Royal and it's estimated that businesses, as well as residences, have no power.
