There's nothing that says spring more than the sight of tulips poking through the melting snow. Fresh flowers have a way of putting one in a good mood. This spring, right outside Montreal, you can celebrate that spirit among thousands of colourful tulips and even have the chance to create your very own bouquet. U-Pick tulip field, located in Laval, is home to over 500,000 flowers that have all been planted specifically for you to pick.
Here, you can escape the dreary winter cityscape and immersive yourself in rows of colour, collecting your favourite bulbs and Instagram shots along the way.
Tulipes.ca confirmed to MTL Blog that the U-pick option is returning for the 2020 season but the exact dates of operation still haven't been confirmed. Last year, for context, the site opened in mid-May.
Right now, we can at the very least rejoice that the site will be open once again.
The farm is the first of its kind in Quebec, according to its website, and certainly the most accessible place from Montreal to enjoy such springtime views.
If you become bored with the scenery (unlikely), you can always grab a bite to eat on one of the many picnic tables available.
Guests do not need to bring any tools but Tulipes.ca does suggest that you bring your own bucket as your floral arrangement will need water for your commute home.
There will also be pre-cut tulips available for purchase on-site, as well as a wrapping station. Unlike the popular lavender fields in Saint-Eustache, your four-legged BFF is not welcome, so be sure you leave your pooch at home.
Tickets are available at the door only, there's no online sale.
Last year, entry cost $8 per person on weekdays and $10 on the weekend. Guests could purchase tulips for $1 each, $10 for 12 or $20 for 30. There's no word yet on 2020 pricing, however.
Celebrate the end of winter by filling your home and your heart with flowers.
Stay tuned for more information about the 2020 season at the U-pick site in Laval.
