A Chocolate Festival Is Coming To Montreal Just In Time For Valentine's Day
  • Valentine's Day in Montreal can be celebrated a week early at the "Je t'aime en chocolat" festival in the Old Port.
  • If your lover loves chocolate, this one's for you.
  • Find out everything you need to know below!

There has been a sad hole in the hearts of many a Montreal chocolate lover with the two-year loss of the "Je t'aime en chocolat" festival. The 730-day absence (but who's counting) has come to an end as the chocolate festival is back next month for its 7th edition in the heart of Old Montreal, just in time for Valentine's Day

This February 8 and 9, chocoholics are invited to Marché Bonsecours to discover and taste some of the best chocolatiers and artisans that Quebec has to offer. There will also be pastry chefs, speakers, chocolate experts on hand to let you know more about chocolate than you thought possible.

This year promises to have the same type of lineups as previous years with demonstrations, workshop-conferences, and of course, chocolate tastings. But, the festival has promised that 2020 will have even more "sparkle and surprises" in store for attendees.

It is completely free to attend, just make your way to the Salle de la Commune at Marché Bonsecours to delight in all things cocoa, desserts, and other decadence. While it may be free to enter, we are not responsible for the amount you spent once inside.

According to the program, there will also be a parade of chocolate hats, chocolate makeup, and the festival's signature event - the Grand Chocolate Fashion Shows - where fashion and chocolate come together. Weird? Yes. Delightful? You bet.

While more names will be added to the list of chocolate vendors, you can expect to see master chocolatiers like Chocolat Boréal, Cacao Barry, FG Chocolatiers, Chocolate Academy Canada, Chocolats Favoris, and many more.

And it's not only all about chocolate. There will be other vendors celebrating fine Quebec products like jewelry, fruit producers, craftsmen and the like.

During the first "Je t'aime en chocolat" festivals, from 2012 to 2017, more than 55,000 lovers attended. So, go early if you want to beat the crowd and get up close and personal with the chocolate goodies.
