Video Showing Three Men Set A Car On Fire In Montreal And Almost Blow Themselves Up

Montreal has some pretty bizarre criminal patterns.

This year, for example, firebomb attacks on pizza restaurants have become a concerningly common modus operandi.

TL;DR The SPVM has released a video showing three men set fire to a car in the Ahuntsic neighbourhood. Watch below.

Car arson is another unfortunately popular crime. Perpetrators have employed this tactic for everything from action against gentrification to personal revenge.

This week, however, another case of car arson has the public baffled.

On December 5th, three men set a red Dodge ablaze in the Montreal neighbourhood of Ahuntsic, according to the Journal de Montréal.

The vehicle was, apparently, their own, raising questions about just what evidence the three men were attempting to destroy.

Details are few, but Montreal police have released a video of the event captured by a nearby surveillance camera. The SPVM has also posted this image of one suspect on Twitter:

The footage is incredible. As one man lights gasoline inside, the car is suddenly engulfed in flame, throwing the man to the ground. The fire clearly brushes his face and torso.

The three men then run away in two different directions.

The haphazard execution of the crime and clearly unorganized escape certainly indicate that these are not professional criminals.

Police have made the video available to the public in hopes that someone may be able to identify the men or otherwise assist in the case.

Watch the video below.
