Violent Suspect Still On The Loose After Stabbing In Montreal's West Island

A Montreal man was stabbed yesterday evening in the West Island. According to CTV News, police are still looking for the suspect, who ran from the scene of the crime.

This news comes just days after a report by the SPVM stating that homicides have reached a five-year high, though violent crime is down overall.

The man is in currently in stable condition. He was quickly stabilised by medical personel after rushing the victim to the hospital.

The incident allegedly happened at around 8:45 on Wednesday night. Eyewitnesses saw two men arguing on the corner of Saint Martin St. near Gouin Blvd. 

The men arguing were identified as the victim, a 33 year old man, and the perpetrator, who is believed to be a 23 year old man.

Neighbours called 9-1-1 when they saw the fight. When authorities arrived, the victim was lying on the ground in a pool of blood, according to CTV. He was wounded in the lower body.

The victim was quickly transported to the hospital by paramedics. Doctors at the hospital were able to stabilize the 33-year old man.

The nature of the fight is not yet known to press, though apparently the two men knew each other. Police are still looking for the perpetrator, who ran away from the scene of the crime.

The suspect is a 23 year old man. SPVM were on the scene late last night and early this morning to collect evidence. We will update this post if more information becomes available.
