Warning: Montreal's STM Côte-Vertu Metro Station Will Be Closed All Weekend

The orange line will end at Du College this weekend.
Warning: Montreal's STM Côte-Vertu Metro Station Will Be Closed All Weekend

As we reportedearlier this month,  Côte-Vertu Metro will go through extensive work this year, with closures starting as early as this weekend.

There are, in fact, three designated weekends that the STM plans to close the entire station to prepare for its more extensive, 11-week construction project planned for this summer.

This coming weekend is the first closure of the entire Côte-Vertu Metro station, with two more full-weekend closures planned for April.

TL;DR Côte-Vertu Metro station will be closed all weekend as part of a planned closure to replace electrical wiring between the station and the construction site established to build the underground garage being built over 11 weeks this summer.

The work happening this weekend is the beginning of the construction that will see a new underground garage at Côte-Vertu.

The entire metro station will be closed as the STM works to replace the electrical wiring between the station and the construction site that is now behind the station itself.

The other two weekends that will likely see closures are:

Saturday, April 6th and Sunday, April 7th, 2019

Saturday, April 13th and Sunday, April 14th, 2019

If the replacement of the wires goes smoothly and according to schedule, the STM may not need to close the station on April 6th and 7th.

We will, of course, let you know if there will be closures next weekend or not as soon as the STM updates passengers on the situation.

Following these preliminary closures, Côte-Vertu station will inevitably be closed for 11 weeks this summer as the garage is built.

As it stands, Du College metro is slated as the end of the orange line for these weekends, as well as for the 11-week closure this summer.

There will be a shuttle bus set up between Côte-Vertu and Du College as well as buses 64-Grenet and 470-Express Pierrefonds that will go directly to Du College.

The garage is being created to allow more space for trains, which should allow the STM to invest in more trains, which would inevitably mean less wait between trains. The extra space for trains would also allow for the increase in trains needed to expand the blue line.

As mentioned above, we will keep you updated on the closures at this and any metro stations in the future.
