After a long and brutal winter and a pretty capricious spring, Montrealers deserve a summer full of fun activities. And what is more typically summer than evenings spent together with friends or lovers watching movies under the stars?

Luckily, this summer, Montreal residents will have several options. Below are listed 6 pop-up outdoor movie theatres coming to Montreal parks in the summer of 2019. Each offers a unique program or setting.

The best part: all of these are FREE to attend! Pack an evening picnic and get ready to take in some cinema during the cool Montreal summer nights. Enjoy!

Cinéma sous les étoiles

Where: Parks across the city!

When: June 25th – August 30th

What: Cinéma sous les étoiles features gripping social and political documentaries.


Cin'Hoch de l'été

Where: 4545 rue Sainte-Catherine E., Montreal

When: Fridays, June 28th – August 23rd

What: This outdoor theatre is courtesy of the neighbouring Dairy Queen. Grab some ice cream and enjoy some flicks!

Ciné-Parc Dante

Where: 6777 ave. de Gaspé, Montreal

When: Thursdays, July 4th – July 25th

What: Expect the movies at this pop-up theatre to feature the best from modern and classic Italian cinema.


Cinéma NDG

Where: 5560 rue Sherbrooke O., Montreal

When: Thursdays, from July 4th

What: This outdoor theatre in NDG is between Vendôme and Villa-Maria orange line metro stations.


Film Noir au Canal


When: July 14th – August 18th

What: Watch film noir classics in the shadow of the iconic Farine Five Roses factory.


Cinéma Urbain

Where: Place de la Paix

When: TBA

What: This is the only outdoor theatre that has not yet released its 2019 dates. Stay tuned to the SAT website!
