If you don't have plans this weekend I'm here to provide you with an awesome option because one thing is for certain: it's going to be HOT.
We announced last week that the Verdun Beach, which has been under construction for what feels like ages, will finally open this week.
The grand opening party is going to happen on Thursday the 20th from 4PM - 7PM, though officials who spoke with the Montreal Gazette admitted that some extra work will need to be done between the opening party and the official opening this weekend.
The forecast, provided by this weekend calls for 25°C temperatures, with Sunday actually feeling like 29°C with the humidity... so really it is a perfect weekend to go for a swim.
Most Montreal pools will be open this weekend, as well, if you're looking for something different or if Verdun is out of the way. The beach will likely be pretty busy as it is the inaugural weekend.

The Verdun Beach is located beside the Auditorium de Verdun, just south of the end of rue de l'Eglise. To get there you can just hop off the Green line at LaSalle station and you'll be there in less than a 9-minute walk.
The mayor of Verdun has, when speaking with CJAD, said that the swimming area would be supervised by lifeguards. I've not found any indication about whether or not this means the beach is only open when lifeguards are present.
I also wonder how this space differs from a public park... mainly, can I have a picnic and a beer there? I've reached out to the mayor's office to get some answers on this topic and will update this space when I hear back!
The grand opening party is happening this Thursday evening from 4PM to 7PM, though there's a good chance that swimming won't be in the cards just yet. You'll likely have to hold out til Saturday, but we all know that's the day to swim anyway.
