You Can Ride An Electric Scooter For Free Today In Downtown Montreal

Last month we wrote about a new pilot project that consists of a scooter share service will be inaugurated in Montreal. The project, championed by the transport minister and the city of Montreal, is to be introduced for the first time this spring.

Lime, a scooter sharecompany, is offering free rides to Montrealers today downtown. The rides will be taking place at 1250 René-Levesque. It's a great, sunny day to ride in the sunshine and take advantage of a new service.

TL;DR Lime, the electric scooter-share company, is offering free rides to Montrealers today until 2:00 p.m. at 1250 René-Levesque.

After the success of Bixi, which is celebrating its first decade in Montreal, the city has created a pilot project for scooter-sharing services. The scooter-sharing services have started to pop up downtown.

Lime is announcing its presence in the city with free trials of its electric scooters. Lime was first inaugurated in Canada in Waterloo.

Essentially, people find the nearest scooter on an app, pay by the minute to use the scooters, and then leave them within a designated area.

You can try these scooters today at 1250 René-Levesque. Lime will be providing helmets to those who wish to try the service. Interested parties have until 2:00 p.m. today to test out the new service.

Scooter-sharing services should officially launch later this spring. It's definitely going to be an interesting new way to get around.

Bixi has also launched electric bikes as part of its new fleet this year. I wonder if the speed of these scooters will rival that of bikes.
