You Can Watch People Jump Off Montreal's Olympic Stadium At This Extreme Sports Festival

If you're sick of the same-old, this is the festival to catch.

If the regular lineup of food or music festivals doesn't quite scratch that itch for something exciting to do in Montreal, you might want to check out the Jackalope festival August 16 - 18.

This is where serious athletes and hardcore adrenaline junkies meet up to compete in some of the most heart-pounding action sports competitions like base jumping, skateboarding, bouldering BMX, and fixed-gear riding.

And if you really want to make your stomach flip, you can watch base jumpers dive from the top of the Olympic Stadium; it's 60-foot free fall followed by a parachute glide of 490 feet.

Jackalope was created to promote action sports and their development. Last year none other than Tony Hawk was there to show off some of his skills. This year, among other famous guest athletes, the 10 times World Skateboarding Champion Bob Burnquist will be on hand.

This year's Skateboard World Cup is giving away a $20,000 cash prize for the men and women competition. There is also a skate competition for kids under 13

The three-day festival has everything to keep the heartbeat racing: music, food trucks, pop up shops, and of course bars.

If you're more of a doer than a watcher you can test your own skills on the slackline, bouldering, the mini skate ramp or during the open session on any of the custom park installations. You can even cool down with a little yoga.

There are epic afterparties held each night of the festival for those of us who don't want to call it a night when the doors close at 11 PM

The whole weekend is a crazy, jam-packed action sports celebration with things to watch, do, or party to. But seeing pros like Elliot Sloan and Bob Burnquist skate live is worth the price of the ticket alone.

Our friends at Narcity sat down with the founder, Micah Desforges, at the Jackalope Fest two years ago. Here's what he had to say about the whole amazing event.
