Montrealers Live Tweets And Pictures From The Streets Of Yesterday's Student Protest

Yesterday afternoon, what was supposed to be a peaceful demonstration against austerity turned violent in the streets of downtown Montreal.

The protest, organized by ASSÉ, started off without incident, but, as has happened in Montreal too many times before, violence inexplicably broke out between the city's police and protesters.

Details are vague as to exactly why Montreal's riot police tear gassed, arrested, and battered a group of 10, 000 citizens, but these live tweets and videos shed some light on the events of the day. The final video claims to be document the initial spark that led to the peaceful protest turning into pandemonium.
