Montreal's 100 Strangers

Montreal, one story at a time.
Montreal's 100 Strangers

Time to meet some of Montreal's strangers. Being a cosmopolitan city with different boroughs of various vibes, Montreal has citizens of all sorts, each with their own story. Annex Photography's Strangers of MTL seeks to showcase these "strangers" and give a voice to the wonderfully-random residents of Montreal.

Annex Photography (consisting of two photographers: Annie Bakopoulos and Alex Paaren) were inspired by the project Humans of New York, which works on the same premise: starting up a conversation with a stranger them and taking their portrait. The photographer has a short convo with the person, and a quote from the chat is attached to the photo on the FB page and instagram account.

100 Montrealers will be featured in Annex Photography's project, with the first 8 featured below. A full photography service, Annex Photography also does weddings, baby sessions, engagement sessions and any other important events, along with Strangers of MTL.

  • "Best thing about your mom?"
  • Joely: "I can ask her anything."
  • Pujeet: "I've learned how to be tough from my mom. Forgiving, but tough."
