Montreal's All-New "Vegan Cheese" Is Now Here And Ready For You To Eat

You won't believe it's not real cheese.
Montreal's All-New "Vegan Cheese" Is Now Here And Ready For You To Eat

Giving up cheese is probably the hardest about being vegan, in my humble meat-eating opinion. Eggs and milk are one thing, but the thought of giving up the decadence of all cheese is truly terrifying, and is the sole reason I, and likely many others, could probably never be vegan. Now, with Montreal's new line of vegan cheese, living the vegan life looks a lot easier.

Zengarry vegan cheese, made about an hour outside of Montreal, is the new fromage on the block, although it technically isn't cheese at all. Made mostly from cashews, Zengarry cheese is dairy-free, gluten-free, preservative-free, organic, and therefore perfect for a vegan diet.

Available in Montreal, Zengarry got people cheese'd (in a good way) at last year's Vegan Festival, and will hopefully make an appearance at this years Vegan Festival, and can be regularly found at 6 Montreal grocery stores. Find out where here.

The idea of vegan cheese sounds a bit strange, for sure, but Zengarry's looks and sounds pretty delicious. With flavours like Brie, Gruyere with Cumin, Sun-dried Tomato & Basil, Holiday Brie with cranberries, and Smokey Jalapeño, vegan cheese could be just as great at its cow milk counterpart.

If you're still a little skeptical, you can try Zengarry cheese for free, during the grand opening of Montreal's new vegan super store and juice bar, Antidote Superalimentation, on October 11th. Head there (map) from 10am to 1pm and see what vegan cheese is all about.
