Montreal's Avenue Mont-Royal Will Be Transformed Into A Giant Pool

Summer is approaching quickly which can only mean one thing:

It's time for Montreal to start building yet another bizarre street-art instillation. In the past there was the Parcours Lumiere in the Quartier des Spectacles, the famous Grande Terrasse Rouge, and that one time Mont-Royal was turned into a huge mini putt course.

This one will be called: Mont-Royal–les-Bains.

From May 31 to June 3, the corner of Mont-Royal and Saint-Hubert street will be completely close off to cars and temporarily turned into a pedestrian street.

The middle of the street will then be completely covered with hundreds of blue wading pools filled with thousands of yellow rubber duckies.

The idea is to create one giant bodyof water and a "sea of blue" in the middle of downtown Montreal.

Everyone will be able to hang out, walk though the pools, or just dip their feet to cool off. And in case you were wondering, there will be a real lifeguard present at all times since Montrealers apparently can't be trusted NOT to drown in 5 inches of water.

It's a neat idea, but I'm glad the city won't be leaving this up all summer long. Can you imagine how dirty it would get after a few weeks? If you've ever seen Mont-Royal street on a Sunday morning after all the weekend partying is over, then you know what I'm talking about.
