Get your brain fit with some lit today 'til Monday at the 37th edition of the Salon du Livre de Montreal, the biggest book sale of the year. Pretty much a "book festival," the Salon du Livre de Montreal will take over Place Bonaventure for 6 days of literary festivities.

Officially opening today at 9am, the SLM will showcase literature of all sorts, and give readers the chance to meet the authors (and illustrators) of their favourite stories while also attending various talks and autograph signings. You can bet there will be more books on-site than you'll know what to do with, the perfect chance to discover a new genre or author, because lets face it, with the cold here you'll have much more time to spend reading indoors.

The SLM's opening ceremonies will begin today at 5:30pm, with special readings presented by Quebec author Claudia Larochelle and actress Mireille Deyglun. Other special guests to see throughout the festival include Michel Tremblay, Normand Baillargeon, Katherine Pancol, Denise Desautels, and many more.

For today only, citizens packing a Montreal library card or a la Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ) card can get into the Salon du Livre de Montreal at zero charge. For the rest of the book festival, entrance will cost $8, or $6 if happen to be a student or senior, or if you just get your ticket online.

The Salon du Livre de Montreal opens this morning, Wednesday, November 19th and ends on Monday, November 24th at Place Bonaventure. Get all the info and any updates by heading to the official website and Facebook page here.
