The biggest and most world-renowned events that the beautiful city of Montreal has to offer are often hosted at Montreal's Parc Jean-Drapeau on Saint Helen's Island.

TL;DR Parc Jean Drapeau is undergoing some serious renovations worth about 73.4 million dollars. The city of Montreal wants to make this park a destination in itself. The project is already underway, and the brand-new park is set to open to the public in 2019!

Formula 1 Grand Prix, Osheaga, and countless other global festivals and events go down at this beautiful and massive public location. 

This year, the site of the Expo 67 World's Fair, Parc Jean Drapeau is undergoing some serious renovations. The city is investing heavily in this Montreal tourism hot spot.

The city of Montreal wants to make this park a destination in itself. In other words, it will be so special and unique that tourists and Montrealers alike will be motivated to hop on the yellow line just to pay a visit to the park.

Just to prove that Montreal is not joking about the extent of the facelift of the park, the budget is approximately 73.4 million dollars!

This project is being brought to life by design and landscape architecture firm Lemay and engeneering firm WSP.

A video shared with MTLBlog by Instagram user @21blocks this afternoon shows a massive car fire two blocks from Lionel-Groulx metro station at the Petro-Canada gas station in the Montreal neighbourhood of St-Henri.

Details of the fire are few, but it's clear several police vehicles were on scene.
