Add one more awesome thing to do while you enjoy the summer in Montreal. The Clock tower and Parc Jean-Drapeau beaches are open/opening, and now you'll have another waterside chill-spot to enjoy: the Village Éphémère.

Village Éphémère will be an entirely free public boardwalk, created by L’ADUQ, with help from the borough of Ville-Marie. The Jacques Cartier boardwalk will be outfitted with all the summer essentials: art installations, food trucks, cafes, live music, film screenings, and, most importantly, a bar and terrasse.

June 20th will be the opening date of Village Éphémère, with hopes of keeping it open all the way to the end of August. After some city-funding and an indiegogo campaign, we hope the money will be there to keep the totally free Jacques Cartier Boardwalk open all summer.

More terrasses and bars are always welcome, especially when there's an altruistic element behind the whole thing. Village Éphémère was born out of the idea of beautifying the otherwise unused areas of Montreal. Many Montreal artists will also have the chance to showcase their work while Village Éphémère remains open. Check out the listings for the various artistic installations here.

Village Éphémère is right on the waterfront, with a view of the St. Lawrence river, housed in the parking lot on Notre Dame just east of Parthenais (map). Opening celebrations will be held this Friday, June 20th, from 1pm to 11pm. For all details and updates, check out the FB event page.
