Montreal’s Lachine Canal Is Going To Be A Super Long Skating Rink Winter 2017

The days are getting shorter, the weather is getting colder and it's still dark when you wake up in the morning.
There are only 3 ways to cheer yourself up when you get hit with the winter blues.

First stop on the list is something brand new coming to Montreal this year.
The Lachine Canal Ice Skating Rink.
You may remember last week when we mentioned the enchanted Lachine snow-path, well this year, the path will be made even better with the addition of a gigantic ice rink.
Last year, citizens were invited to present some ideas to improve their boroughs. 700 entries were submitted in total.
The team consisting of Montreal architects Bryan Marchand, Valentin Guirao and Toby Manaças won the competition, and so the plan for La Place du Marché was born.
Their winning idea is to close one lane of Atwater Ave. to create a pedestrian market and to build a skating rink on Lachine canal.
The Place du Marché plan will also include a redesign of the area around Lionel-Groulx metro, an improvement of the area to and from Atwater Market to make it more pedestrian friendly, and an upgrade of the public market.
