Montreal's Mega Summer 2014 Night Bike Ride Is Tomorrow

Get glowy and get biking.

Riding your bike in the middle of the night is usually a solitary affair. Heading out or heading home, a night-ride isn't the most exciting journey either. Vélo Québec is changing both those preconceptions with their Tour la Nuit Montreal bike ride.

On Friday, May 30th, all cyclists in Montreal are invited to experience the serene beauty of Montreal under the stars as part of a collective 20km bike ride through the city. The event will begin at Parc La Fontaine and end at Parc Jeanne-Mance (see the route here) with swag and festivities offered at the start and finish.

To give some colour and vibrancy to the event, Vélo Québec is asking bikers to get a serious glow-job and illuminate their bikes with any and all sorts of lights. Now's your chance to outfit your bike to look like the Tron light cycles without any of the other 17, 000 participants being able to say you're a nerd.

A second cycling event will be held later in the weekend on Sunday, June 1st. Known as the Tour de l'Île de Montréal, this is a famous bike ride (in its 30th year) that features 25km, 50km, or 100km routes, depending on how intense you want to get.  All routes start at Parc La Fontaine in the morning, but you can find the exact details here.

Will you be night biking?
