Quebec/Montreal wine culture goes well beyond what you grab at the depanneur on a Friday night, and it's time you discovered the rich selection of wines produced by the province. No, we're not asking you to spend tons of cash at the SAQ, because one event is bringing the best wines Quebec has to offer in a single spot. Get your wine glasses ready for la Fête des Vins du Québec at Marché Bonsecours.

Running from November 28th to 30th, la Fête des Vins du Québec will essentially be a three-day wine festival where you can drink, eat, and learn all there is to know about wine. Think of it like BeerFest, just for wine.

At the forefront of this year's festival are the women of Quebec's wine industry, as the theme for the 9th la Fête des Vins du Québec will be "Le Vin au féminin." Over the course of the festival, the many women who are involved with wine culture in Quebec will be honoured, from winemakers to sommelières, so be certain to raise your glasses to the women who make wine in Quebec happen.

Quebec's 5 wine regions (Cantons-de-l’Est, Ouest-du-Québec, Lanaudière, Montérégie, Est-du-Québec) will all be available to try at the festival, with over 40 local vineyards represented and giving out glasses/bottles of their reds and whites. An on-site bistro will also be set up to pair your many glasses of wine with some food, including cheese, sausage, and chocolate dishes, to name a few.

Wine can be a bit intimidating for the uninitiated/people who don't know anything about wine, like ourselves. Us basic betches can get caught up at the festival, thankfully, as several intro courses to wine tasting will be conducted by professional sommelières each day. Nothing beats being able to call a wine "subtly oaky with a mild tinge of citrus" and actually be right, leaving your friends in awe.

Get down with Dionysus' beverage of choice from November 28th to 30th at la Fête des Vins du Québec held at Marché Bonsecours. For more info, head over to the event's official website here.
