Snow and cold won't be stopping the excitement at Montreal's Olympic Stadium this year, as the space will be become a whole "Winter Village" for the entirety of the season. The Olympic Stadium's Winter Village will officially open this weekend, and to mark the occasion, Noël dans le parc will be throwing a huge (and free!) opening celebration.
Beginning this Saturday, December 6th at 2pm, the Christmas in the Park opening show will be a mix of music, performances, and workshops. Three musical acts will be pleasing your ears within the Esplanade financière Sun Life (including a real Xmas-themed marching band), a blacksmith will be on-site to show you how to make things in true GoT fashion, and a real lumberjack will be putting on a two-handed saw show, which is a small sample of what you can expect.
Perhaps the biggest draw to the Winter Village in our not-so-humble opinion is the official opening of the Olympic Park's new, and entirely free, refrigerated outdoor skating rink. The rink will also be open on Saturday, and can be enjoyed 'til March 8th of next year.
If you want to watch these 10,000-pound beasts go HAM with their 1,500-horsepower engines, then Monster Spectacular 2022 is the place to do it.
According to evenko, the event promoter, 12 of the world's best monster trucks will be competing on an all-new track. The event features side-by-side races, freestyle motocross, ATV & SXS races, and a backflip contest.
The event was initially set to take place on November 13, but it has been postponed until April 9 due to public health restrictions.
If you already have a ticket, hold onto it because it'll still be valid. If you don't, a spokesperson told MTL Blog there are still more tickets available.
Doors open at 5 p.m. for a pit party where you can meet the drivers and get photos with the monster trucks.
