Montreal's West Island To Downtown To Get Many More ATM Trains

Philippe Couillard's promise to upgrade train service in Montreal.
Montreal's West Island To Downtown To Get Many More ATM Trains

West Island commuters can regain hope for the long-awaited improvement of the Train de l'Ouest commuter rail, as Quebec's newest premiere already promised to get the train's wheels rolling.

During Philippe Couillard's election campaign, the Liberal leader publicly stated his "full cooperation" in completing the West Island train.

Election promises don't always mean much, but Liberal cabinet minister and spokesman for the Train de l'Ouest coalition believes Couillard is fully and "clearly committed to the project."

The Train de l'Ouest coalition still needs to meet with the new Liberal Transport Minister, who will be appointed once Couillard's cabinet is officially sworn in charge of the province.

Plans for the Train de l'Ouest are an upgrade, and not a new construction. Ideally the route between downtown and Vaudreuil-Dorion will gain its own dedicated track and triple the amount of departures.

Are you all-for the Train de l'Ouest updgrade?
