Come on, admit it. You've wanted to be in a movie. Pretty much everyone has wanted to be in a movie. It just seems super exciting! Even if you have two seconds on screen and you mostly just chill at the back, you're going to feel pretty damn cool.
A lot of people don't realize that you don't really need to have any acting experience to be in a movie either. Almost every major production needs extras! What are extras? I'm glad you asked.
When movies are filmed in areas that are public or need to look like they're full of people, they don't just use the people that are walking by. Naturally, they actually have to employ people to walk around and look like they're living a normal life. Can you do that? I am pretty darn sure that you can pull off doing nothing.
And on top of that, you get paid for it. You are getting actual paychecks for walking around in a designated area or sitting on a bench looking at something. That sounds like a pretty easy pay day to me.
Now you have to realize that it isn't ALL glamorous. You will need to work pretty long days and be on your feet ready for action at all times. You aren't being paid to sit around (even though sometimes you may be). So either way, you're going to have to work. BUT STILL! I'd take this over flipping burger patties or pouring coffee any day.
Here are 6 companies where you can get hired as a movie extra in Montreal:
1. Casting Quarters
This company in Montreal is looking to cast REAL actors and they have a need for a huge bank of extras of all ethnicities.
2. Montreal Extras
This one is super easy. All you have to do is sign up and pay a small fee. But your first day on the job already pays for it.
3. Kenyon Wells Casting
This casting company specializes in speaking roles in films. But you've gotta audition.
4. Montreal Casting
They want you to get on set for 2018 and they've got tons of great opportunities!
5. Figuration Julie Breton
Well, of course I had to add in a French one as well. Since 1999, this company has specialized in French casting calls and production.
Finally there's ACTRA (Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists). This is the Canadian national union of English actors. They represents 23,000 actors across the country. They don't offer roles directly, but if you plan on working in this business you'll definitely want to check out their website.
