An 82-year-old patient called 9-1-1 for help this week from inside a Montreal hospital!
Gilles Tremblay was at the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital after being rushed to the ER this past Friday.
He reports that he spent 36 hours on a hospital gurney, only to be transferred to the basement of the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital and left there, all alone.
Tremblay, a retired priest, explains he requested to be placed in a room after spending 24 hours on a stretcher in the emergency ward.
12 hours later, he was moved to the hospital's basement, left next to the mortuary and across from a washroom.
He says he was completely alone on the floor and after an hour he called 9-1-1 for help. Source.
He got transferred up to a proper bed on the 9th floor shortly after calling the emergency line for help, but not before he was chastised by hospital staff for making the call in the first place.
Now, I know there has been a lot of news about problems for the nurse's workforce in Quebec, overtime and other issues - but this is pretty awful!
This is gross, Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital.
