The Montreal bike renting service BIXI, available at almost every street city corner for the past 5 years, just filed for bankruptcy protection.

The company that runs BIXI reports that they are in debt of 50$ million. Most of that money is owed to the city of Montreal.

Will the Québec government step up and help support the popular bike-sharing service stay alive or will we never be able to use the 3am "no cash for cab" life-saver ever again?
