If you're a fan of IKEA's functional and stylish approach to home decor, this new art event is going to be right up your alley.
IKEA is hosting three Art Events this May 4th at three Canadian IKEA locations, where shoppers will be entered into a raffle for the opportunity to purchase some very exclusive and rare rugs designed by some of today's "hottest" designers.
Take a look at the super impressive rugs and tapestries below and I'll explain how you can actually get one for yourself.
TL;DR IKEA is hosting an art event at three locations across Canada where you can purchase extremely rare and exclusive rugs, tapestries and other pieces of woven art made by designers who work for Louis Vuitton and Comme des Garçons. Details about the event below.
The rugs seen in this article have all been designed by artists from around the world who were commissioned by IKEA to create some unique, bold, and limited edition pieces.
The first rug, above, was designed by the current Artistic Director of Louis Vuitton's Men's division, and the creator of Off-White, Virgil Abloh.
The Art Events are only happening at three locations across Canada: Montreal, Etobicoke and Coquitlam.
So what do you have to do to make sure you're able to make a purchase on May 4th? All you have to do is show up, and unfortunately, the rest is up to luck.
Wristbands will be given out at 7:30 AM - 8:30 AM in Etobicoke and Montreal. In Coquitlam, the wristbands will be given out between 8 AM and 9 AM.
Once you have a wristband, you are entered into a draw that could get you the opportunity to purchase and bring home a rug - but there's no certainty you'll get exactly the one you've got your eye on.
On the Montreal event page, for example, you can see that there are only so many rugs of each style. There will be only 8 jungle cats and big black snake rugs (seen above), respectively, at the Montreal event.
But there are 38 available "KEEP OFF" rugs at the Montreal event, for example. So you can choose to have your name put into the "KEEP OFF" raffle, or take your bets with the other rugs, and enter the raffle with the rest of the pieces, instead.
You have to be 18 to participate in the whole shindig, and you have to bring government-issued ID with you when you receive your wristband.
The odds of you being selected to purchase one of the rugs will depend on how many wristbands are handed out during the "Distribution Period" and there's no benefit to being there early, so maybe just bring a rabbit's foot with you for luck.
