IKEA Canada Just Released All-New "Swedish Meatballs" Made Of Salmon
The iconic menu item just got a makeover.
IKEA is a special place. Not only can you purchase funky furniture and housewares alongside well-priced and eclectic decor, but you've also always been able to stop for a snack at the huge warehouse.
And the Swedish kitchen has just announced they are launching salmon balls in locations across Canada.

The furniture and housewares superstore has long been known for their tasty pre- or post-shopping treats, and now they're expanding one of their most beloved menu items.
While shoppers have long been able to snack on Swedish meatballs and veggie balls, the newest spherical snack on the menu is the sustainable Salmon ball.
The call for sustainability has spread far and wide, even to the most unsuspecting areas, like IKEA's affordable snack counters.
However, the furniture giant has always been known for its sustainability measures, including things like used battery dropoffs. Another thing they're known for? Meatballs!
The salmon they are using for these salmon balls is ASC-certified, meaning it meets the standards of the Aquaculture Stewardship Council. They will also have MSC-certified cod, meaning they meet the standards of the Marine Stewardship Council.
They are dedicated to minimizing food waste, using parts of the fish that aren't cut for fillets so that a little of the fish is tossed out.
The seasoning of these tasty little balls is seaweed and lemongrass and will come with seasonal side dishes like mashed potatoes or tomato spinach ragout. The price is currently set at $6.99.
An IKEA spokesperson is quoted as saying that their desire is to offer dishes "within the limits of the planet," and that this new salmon ball sits in line with IKEA's Swedish roots while also focusing on a minimized carbon footprint.
According to the spokesperson, the carbon footprint of the salmon balls is "approximately seven times lower than the traditional meatball," again providing shoppers with the chance to minimize their red meat intake while still getting a little taste of Sweden.
The salmon balls are joining the salmon fillets, cured salmon and cold smoked salmon that already exists on IKEA's menu.
