A lumber yard in the Saguenay region is reaching out to the public because of a terrible theft of over $10,000 worth of equipment last weekend. Scierie Girard Inc. is offering a $1,000 reward to anyone who can help provide valuable information.
The family-run lumber mill has been around since 1955, providing processed lumber to clients across Quebec, Ontario, and the Eastern United States.
Located in the Shipshaw municipality of Saguenay, the Girard family claims that their equipment disappeared in the forests at the Pipmuacan Reservoir, an area north of Saguenay. They're hoping anyone can provide information so they can find the thugs that stole their equipment.
They list hundreds of stolen items, including a generator, a bunch of handheld equipment, saws, and even a television. The Girard family is disappointed that the thieves also made off with a laptop that contained highly sensitive information.
As you can see, the list of stolen objects is very long and damaging to the success of the company. The family hopes that someone will be able to help them find the stolen equipment. The company also lost scores of inventory information.
According to TVA Nouvelles, this is the fifth time someone has stolen equipment from a lumber business this one year alone.
The bandits even siphoned all the fuel from the heavy machinery and stole the security cameras that were installed to protect the equipment!
The company made a formal complaint to the Sûreté du Québec but considering the remote location of the thefts, it's difficult for the police to intervene.
That's why Scierie Girard is reaching out to the general public. They hope that someone, anyone, with information will reach out.
On their Facebook page, they ask that anyone who has information contact the company at 418-542-8929 ext. 105
Let's hope that someone out there has information enough to claim the $1000 reward!
