Montrealers are fortunate that so many institutions dedicated to the arts, history, and science call their city home. These museums serve the people of Montreal and participate in some impressive public outreach campaigns.
On such endeavour is the annual Montreal Museums Day, organized by MTL Museums, a group whose "mission is to promote Montréal's museums by encouraging their activities and defending their interests, as well as by developing communication, mutual aid and cooperation."
Museums Day stands out for its scope: 30 participating museums across the city offer free activities and admission to members of the public.
This year, Free Museum Day falls on Sunday, May 26th.
Details are forthcoming, but according to the Free Museum Day 2019 program, favourites like the Musée des Beaux Arts, the Montreal Biosphere, the McCord Museum, and the Pointe-à-Callière Archaeology Museum are among the participating institutions.
Free shuttle buses will also be available to ferry museum-goers between different sites.
Weather permitting, however, Montrealers could make this the ultimate museum crawl by choosing to BIXI between at least some of the 30 museums.
