Due to the high volume of calls that 811 has been receiving regarding symptoms of COVID-19, the CIUSSS du Centre-Sud-de-l’Ile-de-Montreal announced Sunday that a new walk-in clinic for COVID-19 testing in Montreal will be opening. The new clinic entrance will be located on the corner Saint-Urbain and de Maisonneuve, in the Quartier des Spectacles district. It will open as of Monday, March 23, at 8 a.m.

This clinic will be open seven days a week, for 12 hours a day — from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The press release announcing the opening of this new walk-in clinic in downtown Montreal specifies that "not everyone who comes to the clinic will have a screening test."

The following is the necessary criteria for receiving a screening: anyone who has travelled outside of Canada who has been in the country since March 1 or who have been symptomatic for 14 days or less, anyone who is in close contact with someone with a confirmed case of COVID-19, anyone who has been close contact with someone who has recently travelled and has one or more of the main coronavirus symptoms, or anyone who has one or more of the following symptoms: fever, chills, cough, or difficulty breathing.

According to the press release, the clinic will be able to do a total of 2000 tests per day.

The following are instructions found in the press release for going to this new walk-in clinic without an appointment:

  • "Bring your Medicare card and identification."

  • "Dress warmly, the clinic is partly outside."

  • "Please follow the instructions of the on-site responders."

  • "Keep a distance of one meter between people, unless you are wearing a mask."

Since the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Montreal continues to go up, this clinic will be extremely helpful for giving people the answers they need.
