Quebec City Airport Ranked One Of Best In North America, YUL Not So Much
YQB is one of the best in its class.
- Airports Council International has published a new list of the "world’s best airports for customer experience."
- Quebec City's Jean Lesage International Airport made the list in addition to only two other Canadian airports.
Airports Council International (ACI) just named Quebec City's Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB) one of the best airports in its class in North America. This is the fourth time the airport has won this award. YQB scored high on many customer satisfaction surveys that the ACI conducted in the zero to two million passenger category.
Only two other Canadian airports, Toronto Pearson International Airport and Saint John's International Airport won awards.
"Caring for our passengers is one of our guiding principles. We work hard to make YQB an airport of choice by fostering a human element that is as ambitious as its region and connected to the needs of its passengers," said Stéphane Poirier, President and CEO of YQB in a press release.
"This recognition from our passengers motivates us to keep going further. It's also a reflection of our employees, who are the key to our success. We proudly accept this award, with the promise of maintaining high-quality standards."
YQB recently distinguished itself by lowering its greenhouse gas emissions by 44% since 2016.
The airport recently underwent a massive renovation, adding a new terminal, new passenger waiting areas, and expanding its service offerings.
While Jean Lesage International Airport mainly services Northern Quebec and Eastern Canada, travellers out of Quebec City can go to Paris or to various Caribbean island destinations.
Citing advancements to the airport's accessibility and passenger journey, the ACI noted that "everything" about YQB has improved.
This summer, YQB is poised to be a crucial player in Air Transat Quebec's European flight schedule.
The air carrier will offer four direct flights to Paris per week and will offer four corresponding flights per week between Montreal and Quebec City to better accommodate European travellers.
If YQB wasn't already great enough, the airport recently launched a pet therapy initiative with Cégep de La Pocatière.
The program will allow stressed out and anxious travellers to visit with certified therapy dogs.
The pilot project will run over an 8-week period as of February 9.
Next time you plan a trip abroad, make sure to head to Quebec City and fly out of one of the best airports in North America!
