It's Going To Be Cold And Rainy All Week In Montreal

We've been dealing with extreme heat and humidity for weeks now in Montreal, but this week is finally going to bring a change, welcome or not. Rain and much cooler temperatures are expected for the coming days in Montreal.

I hope you enjoyed the nice, dry weather this weekend in Montreal (especially if you were at Osheaga and were afraid it was going to start pouring), because it's going to be raining for the rest of the week in Montreal.

Environment Canada is predicting rain and thunderstorms starting Tuesday, August 6th. This is probably good news for our parched plants and parks, but bad news if you were planning a pool party.

Meteorologists are also expecting much cooler weather this week, with highs hovering around 24 degrees and lows as low as 14 degrees.

Meteorologists had already predicted that a cold front was going to be hitting Quebec and Ontario in early August. In fact, last month's weather pattern, which brought above-normal temperatures to Ontario and Quebec and cooler weather to Western Canada, will reverse.

These predictions are turning out to be true. Rain and cool weather are expected for the rest of the week in Montreal.

Environment Canada

Environment Canada is warning that the city may experience thunderstorms this Tuesday. Last week, thunderstorms led to power outages that left tens of thousands without electricity.

This is probably a welcome break for many, as, in July, the city experienced 15 days with humidex above 35 degrees.

In fact, this July broke records for being one of the driest Julys since records began.

August should bring some much-needed rain to the city, as well as colder temperatures. Let's all breathe a sigh of relief.

However, this cold week does not mean that summer is necessarily drawing to an end. Meteorologists are expecting at least one more pattern change before the end of the summer.

This means that above-seasonal weather may well return to the province before the end of the summer.
