- Quebec native and Kansas City Chiefs' offensive lineman Laurent Duvernay-Tardif is headed for Super Bowl LIV.
- By his side is longtime girlfriend Florence Dubé-Moreau, author, curator, and Vice-President of Fondation LDT.
If you've been following football or Montreal news lately, you've likely caught wind of hometown hero Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, the offensive lineman for the Kansas City Chiefs who is headed to Super Bowl LIV next month against the San Fransisco 49ers. Duvernay-Tardif became the first active NFL player to become a doctor when he graduated from McGill Medical School in 2018.
Duvernay-Tardif was also the only player to participate in the first-ever pro day in Quebec, where nine NFL scouts came to Montreal in 2014 to see him put his all out on the field and vie for a spot in football's biggest professional league.
On top of these immense accomplishments, Duvernay-Tardif also started the Fondation LDT which organizes "turnkey events that encourage the balance between sports, arts, and studies with a particular commitment to third cycle elementary students."
And there's no question that it's Duvernay-Tardif's longterm girlfriend, Florence Dubé-Moreau, who provides the foundation's necessary insight into the arts. In addition to being an author and independent contemporary art curator, Dubé-Moreau acts as Vice-President of Fondation LDT.
Together, these two are giving us serious Montreal couple goals and we couldn't be more excited to watch them head to the Super Bowl and beyond together.
The couple has been together for years and there's no question that they have been there for each other through countless trials and tribulations.
According to an NFL Media Original, the couple studied together at a cottage in Val Morin, Quebec in 2018 when they were both still in school.
Duvernay-Tardif was studying for his medical board exam and Florence Dubé-Moreau was writing her thesis.
Clearly, they both know how to get down to business and how to celebrate, and it's always side-by-side.
Florence Dubé-Moreau, or "Flo," as Laurent calls her, was also by Duvernay-Tardif's side when he fractured his fibula in 2018.
When the couple isn't in Kansas City, they can be found sailing or travelling and simply enjoying each other's company.
I'm sure that it's not lost on Duvernay-Tardif that he has come full circle and will soon play in the Super Bowl against the San Fransisco 49ers, the same team he faced in his very first NFL game as an M.D.
There's no question that all Canadians will be cheering for him... but likely none louder than Florence Dubé-Moreau.
