Leave it to environmental protesters to cook up something like this! One of the world's largest and most controversial protests is coming to Montreal this summer to bare it all.

The World Naked Bike Ride is a semi-annual protest event that happens every summer in many cities around the world. The international clothing-optional event first appeared in Montreal in 2009. Nudity is encouraged but not mandatory.

The first-ever World Naked Bike Ride happened in 2004 and for the past 15 years, it has brought controversy to every city that hosts one of their events. Essentially, the Naked Bike Ride is a protest that calls for the reduction of oil consumption and environmental awareness.

This August 10th, Montreal's own Naked Bike Ride will be underway from its regular starting point at Dorchester Square in downtown.

Montreal's Naked Bike Ride will begin at 1 PM in the afternoon. Protesters will ride nude (or otherwise) through the streets of Montreal, promoting body positivity and environmental awareness. There will also be a night ride at 8 PM from the same location!

The World Naked Bike Ride's message of environmental awareness and the demand to move away from oil consumption has gained global attention because of how scandalous the protest is. A huge police and media presence follows the spectacle throughout the day.

Many question the legality of the World Naked Bike Ride. Though many riders have gotten ticketed in international events in the past, Montreal is generally quite open about the Ride. So long as protesters don't disrupt the peace, everything should be fine.

Participants are encouraged to bare it all for the environment but full-on nudity isn't mandatory. Many people opt to go with clothes, so don't feel bad if you're not comfortable being naked in public!
