It seemed way more rainy than usual these past few days, didn't it? It was like we experienced three seasons in one day, which honestly is the norm around these parts. In the mornings, chilly. Afternoons, sweltering. Nighttime, rainy and cold. What gives?
You probably weren't aware of it, but Montreal just broke a 142-year-old rainfall record! The 16 straight days of rain has not seen since 1877. It completely shattered the previous record of 12 days, last seen in 2011. The city began keeping rainfall records in 1871.
With summer projections not looking encouraging in the least, Montreal should expect more of the same in the coming months. Maybe we won't reach 16 consecutive days of rain for another 142 years but one thing is certain, unseasonable and unpredictable weather is the new worldwide norm.
According to YUL Weather Records, Montreal broke the rainfall record between the period of May 13th - May 28th. If you thought it was unreasonably rainy throughout the week, you were right!
Surprisingly enough, this rainfall record hasn't been reached in 142 years. Springtime in Montreal usually means heavy rainfall and lush green trees and grass. Though it might be annoying to some, better rain than snow, am I right?
If you think the rain will subside anytime soon, guess again! Our friends over at The Weather Network predict a chilly and rainy start to June.
Don't let weather forecasts put a damper on your plans for the start of the summer! Believe us, Montreal weather is unpredictable and is constantly changing so as long as you're prepared, you'll be fine.
I just hope you're all ready for what's predicted to be a very rainy summer.
This weekend seems like it'll be decent, however! Other than Sunday, this weekend will be relatively warm and clear. Next week we are in for a couple of rough days, but we're tough we can handle it!
Though we won't fault you if you're totally over the rain and decide to go on vacation all summer. If I could spend my summer on a beach, I would!
Let's just be lucky that all we have to complain about is rainy weather. Before you know it, we'll be complaining that it's too hot in July.
And then, well...you know what's next. ❄
Montreal just broke a 142-year-old rainfall record with 16 consecutive days of rain. The stormy weather will continue for the start of June.
