• The SPVM has announced that they have identified the man caught on camera verbally assaulting Montreal women and a toddler with misogynistic language and a threat of sexual aggression.
  • The man allegedly began his attack after hearing the women speak Arabic.

In late July, a woman, who preferred to remain anonymous, shared a video with MTL Blog that showed a man verbally abusing her, her friend, and her friend's toddler.

The heinous incident gathered a lot of attention on social media and in the press. The police have been looking for the man, and other possible victims, ever since.

Luckily, the SPVM has just announced that they have identified the man, thanks to a tip from a citizen.

The man first came to the attention of the police after the video was widely shared on social media.

In the video, the man comes close to the group and starts berating them. "Why are you attacking my baby?" the woman says.

The man ignores her, and approaches the toddler, a 4-year-old girl, and asks if he can perform an act of sexual aggression on her mother.

He hurls a whole slew of misogynistic language at the group while the toddler cries loudly in the background. He then hurries away, flipping off pedestrians who have rushed to intervene.

According to the woman, the attack began when the man heard her and another woman speak Arabic together. Neither of them were wearing religious symbols, she says.

The police began an investigation on June 24th and have been looking for the man ever since, asking Montreal residents for help.

The SPVM announced earlier today that the man has been identified. They have refused to disclose the man's identity because of confidentiality rules.

As of right now, it is not believed that the man has been formally charged with any offenses.
