As we announced yesterday, there will be over 30 museums that will be totally free this weekend in Montreal. On Sunday, May 26th, Musees Montreal is yet again running their annual Museums Day, and the STM is going to be there to offer some free transportation along with a great metro map to help you plan your day.
The STM will be providing four free shuttle buses that will help you access the museums around the city, and they've also created the map below to show you which stations to hop off at in order to take in the city's best museums.
Sunday will also be a great day to hop on a BIXI in Montreal, as BIXI is offering free rides all day. Essentially, there is no good excuse for missing out on Montreal's great museums this Sunday.
Above is the map provided by the STM and Musees Montreal that shows exactly which museums can be found at which stations. While the metro won't be free for the day, a day pass is only $10 and gets you 24 hours of unlimited metro and bus access.
There will also be four shuttle buses that will provide access to 11 of the museums participating in Museum Day.
The shuttles will run from 9:30 AM to 4 PM and will focus on getting people to the museums in the city that are more "off the beaten path." The shuttles will be leaving from Angrignon, Du College and Jean-Drapeau metro stations.
Notable spots worth considering on the shuttle lines include:
The Biosphere & the Musée de l'Environnement on Jean-Drapeau island
Galerie d'Art Stewart Hall in Pointe-Claire
Musée de Lachine Pavillion Principal in Lachine
Musée des Maîtres et Artisans du Quebec
Above is a map provided by Musees Montreal that shows where the four shuttles will go on their routes and the museums you can access from them. If you head to the digital Programmation pamphlet created by Musees Montreal you can see which museum corresponds with each of the numbered markers seen on the map.
