- Rihanna's new lingerie collection features Montreal-based breast cancer survivor and wellness advocate Nalie Agustin.
- The line, Savage X Thrivers, is designed to raise Breast Cancer awareness and a portion of the proceeds will benefit Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation.
Rihanna has broken the internet yet again and this time, she brought Montreal local Nalie Agustin along on the ride. The singer and makeup mogul released her new Savage X Thrivers lingerie collection this week to great public acclaim.
"The Savage X Thrivers represent young women of all walks of life living and thriving with cancer," Rihanna told Glamour magazine. She also stated that she wanted to “raise awareness for underserved breast cancer communities.”
Rihanna wanted to put the spotlight on strong women with strong stories for her latest lingerie collection and she truly hit this one out of the park.
The collection features Montreal's very own Nalie Agustin, who describes herself on her blog as a "wellness advocate, author, speaker" and "cancer thriver." In the new promotional images for Savage X Thrivers, she looks as though she was made to be in front of the camera.
The campaign highlights four gorgeous and strong women who have all battled breast cancer. The brand calls them thrivers, but, to many, they are also fighters, warriors, inspirations, survivors and role models.
Nalie took to Instagram and shared one of the photos from the campaign, writing:
“Dear Rihanna (@badgalriri), Through music, film, fashion, beauty, business, but above all, by simply authentically being you - you’ve disrupted societal norms and made the impossible, possible."
"Thank you for proving that boundaries are meant to be broken, and rules re-written."
"Your fans have been begging for new music, but you’re out here living your higher purpose, changing the world... and from the bottom of my heart, I can’t thank you enough for allowing me to be a small part of it."
"Thank you for participating in our mission to share the often untold stories of metastatic breast cancer and giving a voice to the unheard."
Also included in the campaign are Stephanie Seban, Bianca Muniz and Johanna De La Cruz. Each of these ladies' stories is presented to us in a documentary-style video, which dropped in conjunction with the limited-edition collection.
The moving video gives us an idea of the strength each of these motivating ladies possess.
Part of the proceeds from the collection will be donated to Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation, which aims to put a focus on research and support for young men and women battling breast cancer.
She is one of our city’s most prized possessions and we should all be proud of her journey, which is only just beginning!
