"Thermal City" Spa Opening Outside Montreal Uses ASMR & Will Actually Be Super Affordable
It's opening this holiday season!
- Förena Thermal City is a sprawling this holiday season.
- We spoke to a Förena spokesperson about what customers should expect from the unique development.
Recently, we wrote about the impressive development at the foot of Mont Saint-Bruno National Park, only 30 minutes from Montreal. I knew from then that we all needed more information regarding the project. First announced in 2016, this new thermal spa will sprawl across 600,000 square feet and promises to be one of the largest spa facilities in Canada.
And, to top it all off, it is going to be quite affordable. Prices start at $55 and go up to $125 depending on the treatment. All of the treatments give you access to the saunas, baths, terraces, and rest areas. You will also be provided with a robe and sandals to add to your experience.
Although Förena had planned to open its doors this summer, the project got delayed. “The construction of the thermal complex is in the final phase. We are planning to open in December and the official opening date will be announced in the coming weeks. We plan to be open for the holiday season,” marketing director Geneviève Lamy told MTL Blog.
The first phase was said to be a $12 million investment and the second phase will include a restaurant, other pavilions, and even the construction of a hotel.
The spa facility will be split into two different thermotherapy areas. There will be both an indoor and outdoor pool as well as numerous beauty treatments and massage therapy rooms.
Although Quebec is already stocked with incredible spas, we can expect something a little different at Förena.
Lamy told MTL Blog that this is “not just a place where you go and experience different installations. It is a journey that will make people travel through thermotherapy rituals inspired by [Iceland], Germany, and Russia.”
“We want people to know the story behind every experience, and to understand the origins of what they see, feel [or] touch,” she continued.
Lamy also told us that this will be an “immersive world, following the ASMR trend, which differs a lot from the usual spa music; it makes it more authentic, and we believe that sounds and smells are the best ways to stimulate memories and to make someone travel.”
This space was designed to create a world where customers can come and let go of their daily stresses. Created as a relaxation facility, “Förena is the soul of the complex and it has its own voice, which makes it very particular. Our spa will be different in the ways we have an impact on our customers and in the ways we deliver the experience.”
I know I am not the only person impatiently waiting for this incredible village to finally be open. As someone who loves to pamper herself, I know I will be spending a lot of time (and a lot of money) at Förena. And, I could not be more excited about it. My bank account, on the other hand, is a little worried!
