Following the first snowfall which came frighteningly early this year, we actually saw a record Montreal snowstorm, with 20cm of snow falling on the city on November 11th. Subsequently, the earliest snow removal operation in Montreal history will commence today.

Over 20 centimetres fell over the course of Monday and Tuesday, and several sources are reporting that operations to remove the snow from sidewalks, bike paths, and major roadways could take up to 4 or 5 days.

But I have some even more fun news!

It's supposed to start snowing again tomorrow, according to Environment Canada's weekly forecast, seen below.

In a move that proves winter is here to stay and that storm was not just a freak one-off snowfall, Mother Nature is about to give us the gift of more snow before the week is out.

The snow is expected to begin tomorrow morning and continue into Friday, where the rising temperature could potentially turn the snow into rain showers.

And thus, the cycle of precipitation, melting, and freezing begins, and Montreal returns to it's truest form: ice rink.

Take a look at the forecast for the week below — don't worry, the weekend is going to be amazing.

Here's Environment Canada's weekly forecast for Montreal, which shows snow coming in on Thursday and sticking around until Friday. On both days, there is a 60% chance of precipitation, including overnight on Thursday.

Luckily, the weekend looks like it is going to be absolutely amazing, sunny and not too cold. What a great weekend to bust out the skis for the first time. I wonder if there are any skating rinks even open yet?

Though the best possible thing to make the most of all this snow and some sunny skies this weekend is definitely tobogganing. It's free and there are countless places in Montreal to get your slide on.

Anything you can think of doing that doesn't require a car is likely the best choice.

Snow removal has begun today in Montreal, but most accounts say that it will take at least 4, maybe even 5 days to clear all the roads to a safe degree.

Plus, as we know, we've got more coming.

Translation: According to Planif-Neige, bans on parking are already in effect tonight (since 7 p.m.) in several residential areas, like here in Lachine, but also in Ahuntsic (Dudemaine sector) and NDG (south of the railway). Be vigilant, respect the signs!

To keep track of where snow removal is happening and if you need to move your car to avoid being towed, you can follow Info Neige on Twitter or go to their website here.

Yes, it's clear that winter really is here in Montreal, and it's not going anywhere for at least a couple months.

So try to enjoy it out there, and stay safe!
