Any large gatherings is likely to be very different this summer. But, at least some will still take place thanks to unique initiatives, like FAUV Festival, which is being hosted at the Montreal Airport. And on June 8, Montreal's first drive-in festival unveiled its line-up of comedians.

Deconfinement is taking place gradually and the rules still do not allow for the activities we're used to in the city, such as the many festivals, shows, and other celebrations that make Montreal an international summer destination.

But event organizers are already coming up with unique new experiences tailored to these bizarre times.

The three-day FAUV comedy festival is using a drive-in method so that spectators will be able to enjoy the show while staying safe in their cars.

Performances on each day will begin at approximately 9 p.m. and each evening will feature a different cast of comedians.

The show will take place in the employee parking lot at Montréal-Trudeau International Airport with a capacity of 500 cars.

Tickets will only be available online and cost $60 for a two-person car.

Here's the lineup.

On Friday, July 3, the hosts will be Les grandes crues and the stage will be occupied by Richardson Zephir, Simon Delisle, Étienne Dano, Anas Hassouna and Jean-François Mercier.

The next day, JC Surette, Mélanie Couture, Pierre-Yves Roy-Desmarais, Yannick De Martino, and a surprise guest will be in the spotlight while Mehdi Bousaidan hosts.

And, on Sunday, Neev and Eddy King will be in charge of hosting while P.O Forget, Étienne Dano, Mathieu Cyr, Christine Morency, and Arnaud Soly perform.

Ticket sales open starting June 9, 2020, at noon, on the official festival site.

Only four-wheeled vehicles are permitted and spots will be allocated according to their size. If you ever find yourself far from the stage, two giant screens will be set up to make sure you don't miss a thing.

As for snacks during the show, the food truck's waiters will bring the menus to your car, and all you have to do is put your choice on the dashboard of your car.

The waiter will then come and take your order.

So it's a whole new way of doing things, but it's very much inspired by drive-in theatres and retro restaurants.
