Montreal will host several outdoor movie screenings this summer. Such events make the most of Montreal summer park culture and generous rules about eating and drinking in public. Lay down a blanket, bring some wine, cheese, and popcorn, and enjoy one of the many films en plein air.

Another outdoor movie event, however, is putting a twist on the classic summer activity. This year, Bota Bota, the ultra popular floating spa in the Old Port, is bringing back its move & spa events, inviting visitors to enjoy a selection of films in "bean bags, sun loungers or even from the pools."

Bota Bota will project the movies in its garden, adjacent to its large, ground-level pool. Perhaps most excitingly, "bar service will be available," the website assures. Admission is free with the purchase of a general water circuit itinerary.

Three spa & movie events will take place this summer: on June 28th, July 26th, and August 30th. The complete schedule is as follows:

June 28

  • Oceans by Jacques Perrin and Jacques Cluzaud
  • Screening begins at dusk between 8:30 PM and 9:PM

July 26

  • The Red Turtle by Michael Dudok de Wit
  • Screening begins at dusk between 8:30 PM and 9:PM

August 20

  • A selection of unspecified short films
  • Screening begins at dusk between 8:30 PM and 9:PM

For more information, refer to the Bota Bota summer events schedule here. Water circuit prices vary by duration. Go to the Bota Bota website for more information and to purchase your tickets.
