It's the title you never knew you wanted: the winner of the 2019 Canada's Best Restroom Contest is soon to be announced.

But we do have the five finalists who have been chosen and a restaurant out of Quebec City, Cosmos Cafe, has been shortlisted to go up against two Vancouver restaurants, one Toronto bistro and a Shell station out of Lac la Biche, Alberta. Yeah...a Shell gas station.

Clearly, these people know where to find a nice bathroom, no matter where it is.

It may be a strange contest, but who among us hasn't judged a business on their public bathrooms?

The contest is being held by Cintas Canada; the final winner will win $2500 worth of services from the restroom supplier as well as a place in the "Hall of Fame of Canada's Best Washrooms". So....that's something?

Cosmos Cafe, Quebec City, Quebec

Chosen for it's 'artistic and eccentric' washrooms, these public loos include fish tanks (seen in the cover photo above) that run through the walls with a one-way mirror with a view of the dining room (which sound incredibly nerve-wracking... but also very Romeo+Juliet).

They're also equipped with no-contact accessories so you don't have to touch anything!

Bauhaus, Vancouver; British Columbia

Think Berlin Germany street art from the 90s. The walls are graffitied, and every piece in the bathrooms has a function, as in the Bauhaus tradition.

Beaverhill Shell; Lac la Biche, Alberta

This is not how I think of gas station bathrooms. There are herringbone wood floors, giant mirrors, luxurious wall sconces and even chandeliers

Cluny Bistro; Toronto, Ontario

Solid oak, intricately tiled floors, brass detailing; Cluny Bistro's bathrooms are understated elegance

Laurence and Chico Cafe; Vancouver, British Columbia

This Vancouver cafe may have the most Instagrammable bathroom on the list.  Both bathrooms offer a themed experience, if you look up one room's ceiling is covered in rubber duckies, while the other is a mash of paper mâché flowers.
