The government of Canada regularly updates its travel advisories webpage to inform Canadians of urgent travel risks and necessary safety precautions. The site is organized by country and includes information concerning everything from volatile political climates, to health dangers, to criminal activity.

Because the summer travel season is upon us, we've compiled below relevant travel information for popular Canadian vacation destinations, including those listed by KAYAK and InsuranceHotline.com, in addition to anecdotal travel hotspots.

Moreover, only those countries and regions listed with cautions or warnings are included in this article. The government of Canada defines three critical designations: "exercise a high degree of caution," "avoid all non-essential travel," and, most severe, "avoid all travel."

Accompanying each entry on this list are further details about the nature of each advisory as well as links to other relevant sites. To ensure accuracy, all pertinent information is quoted directly from the government of Canada website.

Always be sure to review the travel advisories webpage here before booking a vacation abroad and during your travels.
