The National Film Board (NFA), a crown corporation, along with UQAM launched a new app yesterday called "clit-me." The app launch, which coincides with International Women’s Day on March 8, is meant to educate people on women's sexual pleasure.

The app combines cute doodles with humour and fun facts. In their words, their app is a "five-minute mobile interactive game that takes a light-hearted and open approach to female sexual satisfaction."

TL;DR The National Film Board (NFA) and UQAM are offering a new app that seeks to educate people on women's sexual pleasure, and it's available now on mobile at nfb.ca/clitme.

The issue that the app seeks to highlight is the "orgasm gap": women tend to orgasm less often than men from sex, especially when those women are sleeping with men. According to their web page, "When first having sex with a new partner, 62% of heterosexual women will reach orgasm, compared to 85% of men. On the other hand, lesbian women reach orgasm 75% of the time."

To promote the launch of the app, a campaign was launched to highlight the disparity between our knowlege of penises and of clitorises. It combines humour with contrast, and it's pretty brilliant.

The app itself "aims to explode a number of myths about women’s pleasure by giving users the opportunity to try out different motion 'techniques' on their smartphones in an attempt to find out what makes their clitoris avatar happy."

The app begins with a reminder that consent is always necessary:

You then get to customize your clitoris:

The game asks you to try different things to please your clitoris, which unlocks fun facts about female pleasure:

This is a really interesting initiative by publicly-funded organisations. This app is definitely attention-grabbing, but will its core message be remembered by users, or will it just be seen as a funny little stunt by the public?
