Alla Wagner lives in a stunning Alberta home, nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. When it came time to sell her house, Wagner put the house on the market for 1.7 million dollars — a fair price for a 5,000 square foot home. But the Albetra homeowner encountered difficulty selling the home.
TL;DR An Alberta woman has launched a contest in which one lucky person will win her stunning Rocky Mountain home. All you need to do to enter is submit a 350-word letter on why you want to win the home and a $25 application fee. See link below!
As a result, Alla Wagner came up with an inventive new way to sell her property, and it involved a small entry fee of $25, but more importantly, a well-written letter.
Wagner was inspired by a similar concept in the United States and the 1996 movie The Spitfire Grill.
According to a recent interview by CTV News, Wagner hopes the buzz generated by the contest will offset the cost of the sale.
In the end, she will narrow down the submissions to 500 finalists whose letters will be read and evaluated by a panel of judges. Only one final winner will remain.
Wagner also has a charitable motive in mind, as five per cent of the net profit will be donated to a women's shelter in Calgary.
The contest will continue on the condition that Wagner receives enough applicants — and $25 entry fees — to reach the minimum listing price. That's precisely 68,000 applicants she needs to submit their 350 word letters on why they should win the house.
The Canadian Rockies are crazy beautiful, too! Not much to lose here. If Wagner does not receive enough applicants, she promises full refunds of the $25 entry fees.
